Similax Wedding Garland

Happy Thursday Guys...a few months ago, I received a box of gerber/gerbera daisies....the selection was filled with bright shades of pinks, oranges, and yellows.  With the gerbers, came the prettiest wedding garland made from smilax....the garland was so perfect and the leaves were the perfect shade of green, so vibrant and full!  So, what's a girl to do with a box of gerbers and wedding garland....how about enhancing the garland with the gerbers and filling bud vases (purchased from the craft store) with 3-4 stems of gerbers.....and as you can see, that's exactly what I did.  The end results...a pretty floral garland for a wedding, a baby shower, dinner party, any occasion that you choose and you can give your guest a gerber filled bud vase at the end of the night!!  Images captured by my friend and AMAZING photographer, Tori of Marvelous Things Photography, thanks so much Tori...Enjoy y'all...xoxoxo

celosia, zinnia, dahlia

Happy Tuesday Guys...hope your week is off to a great one....so sorry I've been MIA.....so much to do lately and yes, I've miss you all. So, today, I'm stopping by to share a little "flower love" with you....a simple sweet arrangement of celosia...aka, cockscomb, zinnias, dahlias, seeded eucalyptus, and coleus.  Celosia is one of my favorite flowers...such a "showy" flower....always making such a pretty statement in the design.  This arrangement is actually a few "leftovers" that I didn't want to throw away and this is what became of them.  Have a wonderful day everyone and thank you for stopping by the cafe.  I'll see you tomorrow with a beautiful wedding to share with all of you....and thanks to the lovely Tori of Marvelous Things Photography  for capturing all the pretty images.....xoxoxoxo

When I received an email from the wonderful staff at Flower Magazine last Spring, I had to do my "happy dance" and pinch myself to make certain that it truly was an email from them.  They asked if I would design a floral crown for a young girl for the summer edition of their magazine.  Well, let's see...Flower Magazine is one of my favorite floral publications, floral crowns are one of my favorite design pieces, and I get to be featured in the same magazine where some of my floral artists has been featured....my answer was YES PLEASE, thank you.

So, today I want to share a few "behind the scenes" images with you...all captured by the oh-so-talented and sweet Patricia Lyons and her beautiful daughter Dylan for being our model....and a huge shout out to my beautiful friends, Dana of Dana FitzGerald Design and my Dana "floral diva" for being there helping me out along the way and for their continued support...such great friends to have in my life!  Enjoy!

Ribbons are the first thing that comes to mind when you think about crafts, gift wrap, and things you used to tie in your hair as a little girl... but what about weddings? Recently, different ways to use ribbons have been popping up all over the blogs and magazines. They are an inexpensive, mostly simple way to express your personality in your decor, and the opportunities to customize are endless! So as you read on, re-think those old spools of craft ribbons in your gift wrap closet and how they can inspire you to create something new.

1. Inspired by an Anthropologie floor set, a gorgeous cascade of paper ribbons creates the perfect backdrop for a rustic or empty-looking venue. Oh, yeah, and that's a DIY made from receipt tape by the way.

Wednesday, July, 25, 2012  |  Weddings

Happy Wednesday Guys...say hello to Megan & Mike....their wedding took place about a month ago at Northwind Perennial Farm in Burlington, Wisconsin. They had an outdoor DIY/vintage wedding on the "smaller side".....the ceremony and reception were both held at the farm......Megan collected dozens of vintage plates, knick knacks and kitschy figurines for each place setting and each table was a different color. They handmade everything themselves and gave out jars of honey (from Megan's family's farm) to the guests as favors. Capturing all the fun details is Sheila Teruty of Modern Day Flapper....and Shelia is also the owner of the cutest Etsy Shop selling vintage fashion....shoes...and home decor...Sheila ROCKS....she has mad style and I'm so happy to have stop by the cafe today.....Enjoy!!
