The Secret Garden

Last year I had the pleasure of working with my beautiful friend and AMAZING planner and editor of Ritzy Bee, Maria Cooke, on our Beyond Something Blue feature for Bride & Bloom magazine. I love Maria....she is my "go to" person for details...she always thinks outside of the box and comes up with the perfect finishing touches.

So a few weeks ago, I called her and asked if she wanted to come to my home and help me put together a tablescape feature for our wonderful readers......she said yes and within two days we came up with all the ingredients for  "The Secret Garden" theme.....Maria arrived with all the perfect details and great vintage finds and I designed all the florals and purchased a few yards of burlap to dress the table......it all came together so beautifully and to capture The Secret Garden design, was our friend and oh-so-fab photographer, Katie Stoops of Open Air Photography.  We all had so much fun and I'm excited to share all the magic that we made with all of you today....Enjoy!

Our "Secret Garden" consisted of  "mix-match" seating......burlap material to dress the table....a mix of sunflowers, peonies, hydrangea, and dahlias with clear and blue mason jars as the containers....so simple and yet so elegant with a vintage charm.

Maria brought the most beautiful tablesettings for the shoot and the silverwear is a family heirloom, it was all so perfect for our design.

And don't you just love the "antique food cover".......how sweet and the perfect touch!

Katie did an AMAZING job capturing all the details of the florals...love it!

Thanks SO much Maria for all of your "special touches and awesome details that pulled The Secret Garden together....your talent and your kindness is always a joy......and a HUGE thanks to Katie for all the "magazine worthy" images....you ALWAYS bring your "A Game" to whatever you do Katie...I love you both!

Guys, I hope you all will be inspired by the beauty of The Secret Garden and we will have more gorgeous tablescapes to share with you in the weeks ahead........xoxoxo

"Beyond Something Blue"

What were you guys doing the day after Thanksgiving....I know...you all were out SHOPPING at the malls...well that wasn't the case for me and a few of my favorite  people in the wedding industry...okay...here's the scoop - a few weeks before Thanksgiving, Leila Khalil of Be Inspired PR, contacted Maria Cooke and I on designing a tablescape for a feature in the Spring 2009 edition of Bride & Bloom magazine.  Needless to say.....we were both THRILLED to do this!  Bride & Bloom is a gorgeous publication and to see our weeks of planning and designing come together for all to see is so very exciting.

AND we could not have possibly created such a beautiful setting without the help of our 'Dream Team".... let me introduce you to the cast of players:

Coordinator -  Maria Cooke of Ritzy Bee Events......Linens, Tableware and Rentals -  RSVP Catering.....
Cake -  K. Rose Cakes.......Favors - CoCo Sala....Calligraphy - Laura Hooper Calligraphy......Invitations - Holly Hattam of TearDrop Weddings....Photography -  Keith Cephus Photography and we also fortunate to have William Gaff of Humanstory to capture our day on film....oh yeah...and me, Janie Medley Flora Design and a HUGE Thank You to "my girls", Jody and Kelly of Maggiano's of Richmond, VA....these beautiful ladies gave us the venue to make all the magic come together!

And here we are.....our color palettes for the design were soft blues and greys...we wanted the look to be one of elegance and simplicity so Maria and I decided to use florals with an all white color palette....gorgeous soft blue linens..... and to bring in the grey I placed all the florals in silver mercury containers and to complete the look we added the silver candle holders. The flowers were a mix of Baby's Breath....Hydrangea accented with Dusty Miller....and Anemones....I love the monochromatic look!

The beautiful cake!

The "bout"!

And the wedding bouquet!

Thanks "Dream Team" for making all of this come together...and a Huge thanks to Leila for making it all possible!
