terrarium workshop

Happy Tuesday Guys....I'm so excited to share such a fun post with you today...a fun Terrarium Workshop hosted by my beautiful flower friends, Jackie and Chelsie of Jackie's Flowers....and a few of their wonderful friends and a host of awesome sponsors!!  I adore these beautiful and talented ladies...the perfect "mother-daughter" team and they sent over so many wonderful images from their terrarium workshop to share with you today...so sit back and enjoy all the details...you're gonna love it!!  All the beautiful images captured by the ever so talented and sweet Amanda of Photography By Amanda Rose!!

Chelsie share all the details of the day....

It all started over coffee with some friends, talking style bloggers to pinterest, pinterest to what's trending, to all of a sudden our shared love for this whole terrarium trend! One of my friends Amanda mentioned to have some sort of class at the flower shop, Jaclyn, our other friend who is a fashion blogger quickly agreed, "OMG yea the flower shop would be the perfect place for something like this!". I ran the idea past my mom (business owner Jackie) and she soon after hopped on board. Days and days of planning and approaching vendors to help "sponsor" the event aka give us some goodies to help fill the awesome swag bags, we felt like some proud little mamas (we had never done a workshop yet! Surprisingly, our local Kiehls store was more than happy to jump on board and was ready to shoot some images over to their corporate office for us! We were SO excited, the response from our clients was outstanding and our limited spots filled fast.

Basically, we wanted it to feel like a casual meeting of the creative minds to share fun ideas, make their own terrarium and sip and snack on some yummy treats. We went for a vintage hippie-esuqe vibe (including a home-made teepee from our grandma’s lace table cloth collection and gold painted dinosaurs tiering over the ever-so-classy platter of cream cheese and cucumber sammys!

Build your own mimosa, grab a seat, revel in your new goodie-bag goodies ranging from a tall can of PBR to ghiridelli chocolates! It was a casual meeting under the almost 100-year old oak trees shading our 1914 craftsman style flower shop, the attendees ranged from a 12 year old to mid twenties to 50-somethings. It went off with a bang and we can't wait for more events like these in the future!

Ribbons are the first thing that comes to mind when you think about crafts, gift wrap, and things you used to tie in your hair as a little girl... but what about weddings? Recently, different ways to use ribbons have been popping up all over the blogs and magazines. They are an inexpensive, mostly simple way to express your personality in your decor, and the opportunities to customize are endless! So as you read on, re-think those old spools of craft ribbons in your gift wrap closet and how they can inspire you to create something new.

1. Inspired by an Anthropologie floor set, a gorgeous cascade of paper ribbons creates the perfect backdrop for a rustic or empty-looking venue. Oh, yeah, and that's a DIY made from receipt tape by the way.

Lacy, soft, frilly, ethereal, enchanting, inviting... all such lovely words. Today's post is all of these things. Inspired by the soft, ruffled layers of a peony. This is not so much a color palette, although these lovely whites and barely there blushing pinks make a lovely combo for your day, this is pure textural inspiration for all those die-hard romantics. What could be more romantic then ruffles, lace and tulle? One thing. A wedding that incorporates all three. Take a moment and let your mind wander around all the possibilities of romance in your wedding decor. Hope you enjoy the loveliness!

Tuesday, August, 23, 2011  |  Color Palettes

I was inspired earlier this week by an article in Martha Stewart Living  about jadite, old fashioned green glassware that really puts a pop in your decor. The shades of jadite paired next to any light shade of blue reminded me of seaglass... which brings me to this post! Calming blues and clear, glassy green... what could be a more lovely pair for a spring or summer wedding color palette? One of my favorite things about these seaglass shades are that you don't have to go crazy trying to match everything perfectly. As long as you stay within the same soft tones (no neon lime greens, please.) you will acheive this fresh, serene look.
