| Happy Wednesday Guys...say hello to Megan & Mike....their wedding took place about a month ago at Northwind Perennial Farm in Burlington, Wisconsin. They had an outdoor DIY/vintage wedding on the "smaller side".....the ceremony and reception were both held at the farm......Megan collected dozens of vintage plates, knick knacks and kitschy figurines for each place setting and each table was a different color. They handmade everything themselves and gave out jars of honey (from Megan's family's farm) to the guests as favors. Capturing all the fun details is Sheila Teruty of Modern Day Flapper....and Shelia is also the owner of the cutest Etsy Shop selling vintage fashion....shoes...and home decor...Sheila ROCKS....she has mad style and I'm so happy to have stop by the cafe today.....Enjoy!!

Hi Guys...it's DIY day at the cafe....today, I'm so excited to have the oh-so-sweet and talented, Victoria Hudgins of A Subtle Revelry stop by and share the cutest DIY paper wreath with us..guys, this is totally DIY friendly and would be such a lovely detail to have on your big day...I think you should have some fun and make a few of them!! Now, let's get all the how to's from Victoria...Enjoy!!
"If you are looking for a big wedding day WOW for an affordable price, paper is your best bet. It can be purchased very cheaply and in the most gorgeous hues to make a large statement for your special day. I used about 15 sheets of 12x12 card stock to make this bright oversized paper wreath. It looks wonderful on an entrance door and would be amazing designed in multiples.
Could you imagine 8-10 of them lining a long reception wall! You can make the wreaths as big or small as you'd like so a life size one would also be an incredible ceremony backdrop. So many options with such a simple project."

It's DIY day at the cafe and we have one of my favorite ladies and floral designers with us, our beautiful and talented friend, Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers .....on Sarah's last visit, she shared a pretty DIY Flower Hair Garland and Boutonniere......today, Sarah is has the cutest DIY Flower Bracelets....you're going to love them and they are super easy to make...take it away Sarah!!
"When I hear “wrist corsage” I think of high school prom and cringe. Flower bracelet sounds much nicer I suppose, so that’s what we will call this. I love these on bridesmaids if you don’t want them carrying bouquets, you can also make smaller versions of this for flower girls. I’ve made two different types here, one that is anchored on a bracelet (yes, this is basically a floral slap bracelet) that is great for heavier flowers, and a smaller version that is made with just a single flower anchored to some ribbon."

Good Morning Everyone! Hope you are having a splendid start to your Tuesday! This is Alisha & I am SO lucky & very excited to share with you my first Real Wedding post on The Café! Everyone meet Shari & Ian... This wedding is close to my heart because Shari & I actually went to the same high school & played volleyball together (which is a BIG deal… there were like 100 people in my high school…no joke) I am so glad that she was fortunate enough to meet her soul mate, Ian. Together they share the warmest, brightest smiles, and whenever you are around them you can't help but catch their contagious joy :-)
Shari & Ian had their beautiful ceremony & reception at Cooper Vineyards in Louisa, Virginia on September 10, 2011. Their gorgeous photography was done by Tall & Small Photography.
These photos just literally make me swoon! See for yourselves! :) Also, look for a few special words from the radiant Bride!

Man, do I love a good September in Richmond! Starting with the clear blue skies(… without the hurricanes of course...), to the way the air starts getting crisper, losing humidity, and finally giving us a much needed break from a summer of frizzy hairstyles. It’s a beautiful beginning to a season of football, bonfires, pecan pie & apple picking… and it’s the perfect month for a wedding! Even though the leaves have not yet turned, and I am still holding on to a bit of summer... fall is well on it's way! So today's post is dedicated to one of the best things about the season...all the delicious desserts! Whether you are getting married this fall or next, here are some photos to inspire your dessert table, especially if you are looking for an alternative to regular wedding cake. So Enjoy! And read closely, there might even be a recipe or two. ;-)

These little babies have recently come onto the Wedding scene and they are such a crowd pleaser! You can order gourmet versions to have delivered for your big day, or you can make them in little muffin pans! Flavors seen from left: Pecan, Dutch Apple, & Coconut Cream.

Good Morning again, loves! It's finally Friday and you know what that means?! It's the first official weekend of summer! As you're all getting ready to head out to the pool, beach, or basically anywhere else that is slam packed with other people, take a moment to rest your eyes on a perfect therapeutic color palette. As the summer is here, I will be finding some brighter colors to inspire us in the sunshine, but this week has been crazy and all I have been able to think of is getting a good night of sleep! So I decided on the calming elements of lavender. This popular, light, dusty shade of purple is very versatile. It can be made playful for a daytime wedding by adding shades of yellow, or dressed up with deeper shades of purple, such as plum. For today, I wanted to stick with the organic, natural-ness of it. So I chose to pair it with sage & mauve, both equally calm colors.
So before you start checking off your busy schedule, relax! After all, it is Friday! Dab a bit of lavender-scented oil on your wrists, and let the visual stress-relief begin!
