Real Chicago Wedding: Stefanie & Sam

It's the weekend y'all...you know how we do at The Cafe...let's take a trip down "Memory Lane" with the beautiful wedding of Stefanie & Sam!

Say hello to Stefanie & Sam......their wedding story is SO beautiful and so chic....filled with style, beauty and grace....they are truly a beautiful couple and although I have never met them, I know their beauty is on the inside as well.  Their wedding story was captured by the AMAZINGLY TALENTED and oh-so-nice...Dave and Nancy Wittig of Dave Wittig Photography....guys....THEY ROCK!!  You are going to love them....and I'm so excited to share with you that they will be joining The Bride's Cafe Crème de la Crème wedding vendor directory....YAY!

Now let's check out all the magic that was made on Stefanie & Sam's beautiful wedding day....Stefanie is going to share all the "411" with us....Enjoy!

"As city-dwellers in Chicago, we both wanted to have an urban wedding – not simply in terms of the location, but especially with respect to the tone we would set.  This “urban” feel we wanted to create led to an esthetic that was modern and sleek, almost architectural feeling… but offset by these very organic, raw, and unfinished elements.

The wedding had no “theme” per se , but since I am from Paris, I tried to incorporate some French wedding traditions into planning the event. (Champagne from France as well as Jordan Almond favors for the guests – all of which my parents brought over directly from France.  We also had a French caterer, and we incorporated speeches from friends and family throughout the whole reception which is traditionally French).  My French background also influences my sense of style, which really led me to want to  create something elegant and sophisticated but understated – nothing too matchy-matchy, just subtle details here and there that discretely tie everything together.

The color scheme was primarily grey with some orange accents. This was particularly visible in the floral arrangements.......
We ordered the flowers online and all the bouquets, boutonniers and arrangements were assembled by myself and my sister, Emily Anderson who works a lot with weddings.  We had a lot of fun working with the flowers and creating something very natural  – almost thrown together looking.   (flowers used - white Dahlias, white Lysianthus, and white Hypericum Berries, orange Ranunculus, and Dusty Miller leaf)

I wore a Jenny Yoo dress.  I chose it for its simple and clean lines… and the texture of the silk had that unfinished/organic feel which I loved. But what really made me fall in love with it was the train: it was a separate panel of fabric, that draped down over the back of the gown – it was so dramatic… and very versatile! : I left it down for the ceremony and it gave the dress a very dramatic and architectural feel, but when I pulled it up for the reception, it felt a little more whimsical and romantic.

Sam wore a Ralph Lauren suit and tie.

Bridesmaids wore grey J.Crew spring dresses and peep-toe silver shoes from Nine West.

Groomsmen wore grey J.Crew pants & vests. They also wore white Tom’s Shoes which was their groomsmen gift from Sam.

Church: Lincoln Park Presbyterian. This church actually caught my eye while I was on a walk several months before we even got engaged!  When we first visited and saw the interior, we loved the woodwork on the ceilings – it felt like the hull of a ship and with the circular positioning of the pews, it made the space feel very centered and inviting."

Guys...now don't you just love Stefanie & Sam's wedding and the images are "picture perfect" and "magazine worthy'.....Thanks SO much Dave and Nancy for stopping by the cafe today...guys, make sure you check out David Wittig Photography blog site!!
