Real Leesburg, VA Wedding - Emily & Doug
Hi Guys....hope you all had a lovely weekend and thanks for stopping by the cafe today....let's kick off the week with the sweet wedding story of Emily & Doug....their wedding story was sent over to me by one of the nicest guys and I have to add very talented, Josh Gooden of Josh Gooden Photography + Cinematography!  I love Josh's work and I'm always so happy to hear from him!  Josh usually sends over a beautiful film for us to enjoy, but today, we are happy to share the beautiful images from Emily & Doug's Virginia wedding....let's check out all the fun and loving moments captured by Josh...Emily & Doug are just the cutest couple...this is such a lovely wedding....Enjoy!!

Here's a little info from Josh......"The ceremony and reception were both held at the Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg, Virginia. The house itself was simply incredible. It was filled to the brim with details already and Emily & Doug’s touches only added to that. The centerpieces are Emily’s family’s glassware, as her parents are antique collectors (so cool).

The glassware is actually remaniscent of the period the Birkby House was built, which really worked well with the setting. During the ceremony, Emily & Doug incorporated a really neat German tradition called the “Nuernberg Bridal Cup” instead of a unity candle. You can read the fascinating story of the tradition here. The cup is a handcrafted pewter vessel in the shape of a woman with drinking cups on both ends. Both the bride and groom are able to toast their wedding and drink at the same time from the same cup. After the ceremony, guests headed into the reception, while we took Emily & Doug into the golden light in front of the house. I swear, Emily & Doug are hilarious in front of the camera, especially when they pull out their lips and moustaches from the engagement session."

And here a little info from Emily....."All glassware (for centerpieces, guest cards, lips and mustaches, etc.) was all early American pattern glass from my parent's antique business/ life-long hobby. The Sapphire ring (my something borrowed, something old and the second something blue) is a family heirloom which was my great aunt's passed to my mother.

The lips and mustaches we made;  We also made the cones (with the fresh flowers from Wegmans) lining the aisle.  The bridal cup is a 100% sterling silver antique my parents found at an antique store in a German village in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

There was also a garter that was made from one of Doug's family member's old wedding dresses that will be passed through his family as something old and borrowed.

I got the dress from the Filene's Basement Running of the Brides, it was about a $3K Maggie Sottero dress I got for $250 while fighting a bunch of brides really early (starting at 4am) one Friday morning last year and I lost about 40 pounds and lots of inches all over for the wedding, mainly due to the CFC boot camp program (they are also featuring a video about us). I bought my wedding dress three sizes too small about 9 months before the wedding so I HAD to get into it!!"

Josh, thanks so much for stopping by the cafe today....we look forward to your next visit....guys, make certain you head over to Josh Gooden Photography + Cinematography and check out so much more of Josh's work and to Emily & Doug, we wish you a lifetime filled with happiness and joy!!
